Charlize Theron: ‘Jack Nicholson was inspiration for Evil Queen’

spl337664_030.jpg

Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron has revealed that she drew inspiration from Jack Nicholson’s crazed character in The Shining for her latest movie role. Theron plays the Evil Queen in her highly-anticipated movie Snow White And The Huntsman which also stars Twilight’s Kristen Stewart. The actress turns bad to play the malevolent monarch in the high-action take on the classic fairy tale opposite Stewart as the banished princess. Theron’s Evil Queen is obsessed with beauty, and sucks the life of her pretty rivals to stay young – and Theron reveals she looked back at Nicholson’s maniacal turn as writer/caretaker Jack Torrance, who descends into madness while looking after an isolated hotel, in a bid to get to grips with the part. She tells LA Confidential Magazine, “This film has been a great sandbox to play in – huge sets and great costumes, and yet very grounded material. “There was definitely something about the character that always reminded me of Jack Nicholson in The Shining. “I played with the idea of that cabin fever, being stuck in a castle, and slowly losing your mind, your obsessions eating you up, and becoming capable of doing something you didn’t necessarily think you would be capable of.”

The 39-year-old former Playboy model had a blind date with Chicago lawyer, Dan Balanoff, 31, and he said they’ve been texting ever since to arrange a ‘private’ date. “It went great. We had a lot of fun getting to know each other,” Dan said of the two hours they spend at Market restaurant for the programme. “We have a lot in common – she’s very down-to-earth and easy to talk to. We connected right off the bat. We’re from the same part of town,” he told Life and Style magazine. “We exchanged numbers and have been texting a bit. We made plans to see each other when she comes back for Christmas. The next date will probably consist of getting drinks in a private place without the circus of the cameras. “Jenny is kind, funny and exceptionally beautiful. I’d be crazy not to fall for her!”

Sienna Miller ‘feels terrible for accusing family over story leaks’

spl337775_001.jpg

Sienna Miller has admitted that she ‘feels terrible’ about having accused her friends and family of leaking stories to the press when all the time her phone was being hacked. The 29-year-old actress told the Leveson Inquiry into press ethics that at the time, she could think of no other way how certain stories could have made it to the British tabloids. According to The Sun, she said, “It was baffling how certain pieces of information kept coming out and the first initial steps I took were to change my mobile number. And then I changed it again and again, and I ended up changing it three times in three months. “Naturally, having changed my number and being pretty convinced that it couldn’t be as a result of hacking, I accused my friends and family of selling stories and they accused each other as well. “I feel terrible that I would even consider accusing people of betraying me. But it just seemed so entirely paranoid to assume your house is being bugged or you’re being listened to.” She received £100,000 from the News of the World earlier this year after taking action against the hacking.

Taylor Lautner says Breaking Dawn is the most emotional Twilight film yet

taylorlautner.jpg

Hollywood hunk Taylor Lautner has said that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 is the ‘most emotional’ film in the series. The 19-year-old, who plays werewolf Jacob Black in the Twilight saga, thinks the movie, which shows the marriage of Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen, has some of the most ‘epic’ emotional scenes so far. The actor said: “[Author] Stephenie Meyer has created incredible characters and a great story. This movie is very epic, and it’s much more emotional than any of the other ones, but it is also very epic.” Taylor also claimed his infamous topless scenes in new film Abduction are ‘nonsense’. He hardly gets his impressive physique out in the upcoming thriller, which he believes is for the best. He added to TV show BBC Breakfast: “It is very important that [the movie] has to make sense. The first time we read the script, it had a lot of nonsense in there. “My character isn’t a werewolf in this movie, so it’s different.”

spl320592_028.jpg

Kristen Stewart wouldn’t have celebrated her 21st birthday if she’d had her own way. Her Twilight co-stars turned the Breaking Dawn wrap party into a birthday celebration for the famously shy actress although she insisted that she didn’t want the occasion to be about her. Julia Jones, who plays Leah in the vampire franchise, told E! Online, “There was a huge cake for her, but she didn’t want it to be about her birthday – she wanted it to be about the wrap party, so they didn’t bring it out. “At a certain point, myself and a few other people were like, ‘Wait a minute. Where is Kristen’s cake?’ We went back into the kitchen and demanded they bring the cake out. It was quite a scene.” But Stewart, who is dating her on-screen love Robert Pattinson, finally allowed herself to be the centre of attention “She was totally fine,” Jones said. “But I understand, because the wrap party was a big deal. I’m very shy about my birthday also. You don’t want any more attention.”

Brad Pitt to star in slave film?

bradpitt.jpg

Hollywood star Brad Pitt is reportedly set to appear alongside Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor in director Steve McQueen’s story of a freed black man who was tricked into slavery. Twelve Years A Slave is based on Solomon Northup’s 1853 autobiography, according to Screen Daily. The 47-year-old Tree of Life actor is producing the movie through his Plan B production company, and has been developing the project for years, but it’s not yet known what role he will take. The film will tell the story of Northup, who was married and living in New York when he was lured to Washington by a job offer only to be kidnapped and put in a slave pen. This led to years of enslavement under several different owners before a white Canadian carpenter who opposed slavery smuggled letters to his wife, which helped launch a court case that eventually led to his freedom.
