Sienna Miller’s new movie has been slammed by US reviewers – with one singling out the screen beauty’s supposed "mustache" for criticism.

Film drama The Mysteries of Pittsburgh was branded "artificial" and "unengaging".

New York Post critic Lou Lumenick said of the coming-of-age drama, which co-stars Peter Sarsgaard and is set against the backdrop of Pennsylvania’s so-called Steel City in the 1980s: "You know a movie’s got problems when the most memorable thing about it is Sienna Miller’s mustache. It is clearly visible in two scenes, once in profile."

The Boston Globe said "almost nothing works" in the movie, and Entertainment Weekly branded it "stillborn".

However, respected trade industry newspaper the Hollywood Reporter praised the flick, based on a novel by Michael Chabon, as "reverential and smart".
