Cate Blanchett and the entertainer wife of Russell Crowe, Danielle Spencer, both made it to the big 4-0 this week.

Blanchett, who turned 40 on Thursday, is starring opposite Crowe as Maid Marian in Robin Hood.

The Hollywood megastar and mother of three sons dropped hints that she is still open to having more kids.

"I’d love to have more children," she was reported as saying in an interview with In-Style magazine, according to The Age newspaper.

"When, I don’t know. But the thing is, we hadn’t planned any of the others. They just popped out. So you shouldn’t over-plan these things. If it happens, it would be great."

Blanchett is mother to Dashiell, 7, Roman, 5, and Ignatius, 1.

She and husband Andrew Upton are co-directors of the Sydney Theatre Company.

Of her decision to return to Australia for the role, she said: "It was after our second son was born [in Britain] that we started to get homesick and our homing instincts got a lot stronger."

“You do start to miss family,” she added.

A British ski helmet ad has been banned after the firm was accused of cashing in on Natasha Richardson’s death.

Natasha died in March, aged 46, after she sustained a head injury following a fatal fall while skiiing in Canada.

Carlisle-based Ski & Outdoor Warehouse reportedly sent their customers an email on the morning she died explaining how important helmets were.

But the British Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has reportedly ruled the advert was distasteful and offensive and breached the rules on references to the dead, according to British newspaper the Daily Star.

The singer from Girls Aloud is having serious trouble due to a minor injury suffered during her Kilimanjaro adventure. Cheryl Cole related the incident: “I’ve just been to see the doctor and he’s drilled a hole in my nail to release the pressure. I feel quite disturbed. When I was training for the climb, my boots were too tight, which put pressure on my toe and the nail went black. It was growing off, but now, with all the dancing we do in high heels for the tour, it’s built up again and it’s hurting like hell every night. The doctor said I was brave, though!” And that’s the important thing… the fact that Cheryl Cole was brave. It is still a show of great determination to go on stage even despite pestering complications such as this, but I have to wonder: how in the world do you manage to actually climb a damn mountain using boots that are too tight?

Jerry Hall’s ‘explosive’ memoirs will not be released in a tell-all book after a deal with publishers fell through, according to reports.

The 52-year-old model had signed a £1million deal with publishers HarperCollins and had reportedly claimed the book would be full of details of her life with Rolling Stones rocker Mick Jagger.

However, HarperCollins were reportedly frustrated after the book failed to provide the juicy details and Hall was then asked to rewrite the 304-page book for its September launch.

Hall was reportedly angry at having to return the publisher’s £500,000 advance on the deal and it was claimed the model wrote the book, Jerry Hall: Self-Portrait, to help her out of financial difficulty.

A spokesperson for Jagger said he had nothing to do with the breakdown of the deal and also denied the rocker said he would help Hall out financially if the project was abandoned.

The deal was allegedly brokered by her agent Ed Victor and a friend of Hall’s said to British newspaper the Daily Mail: "She spent £30,000 on lawyers sorting the contract out in the first place."

Paula Abdul has denied battling an addiction to painkillers.

The American Idol judge was recently quoted in Ladies’ Home Journal as saying that she “wanted to kill” herself over the 12-year addiction.

The magazine also quoted Abdul as saying that she kicked the pills during a stay at a luxurious spa in California last November.

Now Abdul is claiming that the magazine misquoted her.

“It was very stressful for me to hear that and be quoted saying something I never said,” Abdul told Detroit’s Mojo In The Morning radio show.

“I’ve never checked into a rehab clinic. I’ve never been addicted to or abused drugs, and I’ve never been addicted to or abused alcohol.”

Abdul confirmed that she had been to the health spa “having fun, doing spa stuff”.

The magazine says it stands by its story “100 per cent”.

Cycling great Lance Armstrong has opened up about his split from musician Sheryl Crow.

The Tour de France legend says he and the singer broke-up three years ago because of her biological clock.

Armstrong says in a new book that after the couple got engaged, in 2005, their relationship became “kind of a struggle”.

“She wanted marriage, she wanted children; and not that I didn’t want that, but I didn’t want that at that time because I had just [come] out of a marriage, I’d just had kids,” Armstrong tells author John Wilcockson in his biography, Lance.

Armstrong, 37, says he and Crow went to a relationship counsellor, but could not fix the situation.

“We were at different points in out lives. We were not compatible on that issue,” Lance reveals.

"I felt like I wasn’t ready. I would have been in the future, but not then.”

Crow eventually adopted a baby boy in May 2007, who she named Wyatt Steven Crow.

Armstrong, already a father of three, is set to be a dad again as his girlfriend Anna Hansen is currently pregnant.

Cameron Diaz isn’t saying she will "never" have children but doesn’t know if she will become a mum.

The 36-year-old actress said: "My sister has four kids – she’s an amazing mum. I think it takes a village to raise children. So I love being a part of that village that raises them."

She added to British magazine Closer: "As far as the future for me with kids, I’m not going to say: ‘I will never.’ And I won’t say: ‘I will absolutely.’ Because I don’t think life works out that way."

Cameron is rumoured to have split with British boyfriend Paul Sculfor, 38, and said she has had her heart broken.

She said: "We all fall in love and we have our heart broken. And it’s not just about love over a boy or girl.

"It’s all these things we collect in our lifetime to create ourselves."

The singer has recently revealed her new fitness trick: Bikram yoga. Lily Allen’s new exercise routine consists of contortion exercises performed at 105 Fahrenheit. Apparently it’s done her a world of good, as a source relates: “She does the intense 90-minute workout twice a week. She’s really pleased with her new figure and it has landed her a modeling deal with Chanel.” So this is how Lily Allen can get out of her little financial mishaps: slightly boiling herself alive while trying to bend her bones like rubber. Talk about innovation. And ever more so, Lily Allen does this for 90 minutes straight, twice a week. Alas, if she doesn’t stop, she will probably melt away into oblivion.
