Kate Beckinsale has confessed that she regularly worries about her looks.
Despite recently being crowned ‘Sexiest Woman Alive’ by Esquire US, the actress insisted that she still has just as many physical hang-ups as the next woman.
“I’ve always had doubts about my looks. Most women have body issues and I’m no different,” she said.
In 2004, Beckinsale was rumoured to have had a boob job after being asked to gain 14lbs for her role in The Aviator.
The 26-year-old has now admitted that she let the rumours bother her, telling a UK magazine: “We were suddenly talking about breasts – not brains. At one point, I felt as though everyone was out to get me.
“I was having everything examined from my cellulite to my choice of films. I had allowed my self to be flattered when all this talk of breasts started because I assumed it meant I looked good. But when I found out it meant I had horrible boobs, I was taken aback. I began to wonder why I cared about things which, essentially, don’t matter at all.”
The row over Demi Moore’s cover shoot for W magazine has taken another twist.
A Korean sister issue of the mag reportedly “plumped up” the star’s hip. Many observers alleged W trimmed it down, a claim Moore and the magazine denied.
Photographer Anthony Citrano, who claimed the original images were retouched, wrote on his blog: “Did W’s Korean team add in a fake hip because they just kinda thought it looked awkward? Or did they merely reveal a hip that was already there?”
W, meanwhile, said the magazine “did not do anything unusual or out of the ordinary” to the photo, adding: “Demi is an extraordinary beautiful woman and we feel our cover reflects that.”
Kate Middleton turned down an invitation to pre-Christmas lunch with the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace, according to reports.
It was the first formal festive invitation Prince William’s girlfriend has received but the couple decided against attending.
Kate and William, both 27, were worried the extra attention would put too much pressure on their romance.
A close friend told a UK newspaper: “Kate has enormous respect and admiration for the Queen and was very flattered to be asked. But, if she’d been there, it would have caused too much disruption for everyone else. The very last thing she wants to do is rock the boat so, between them, she and William said they would rather wait another year until something official is out there. It was not a snub to the Queen, who seemed to understand how the couple felt.”
A senior aide said: “Kate could have gone to the whole event or simply to the drinks reception beforehand, where they stand around the tree and give presents.”
Superstar couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have given a foster care organisation a fabulous Christmas present.
The Hollywood couple, who have three adopted children of their own, have donated just over $100,000 (£62,600) to the American SOS Children’s Villages.
The money will go towards the creation of alternative foster care programmes for children in Florida and Illinois.
Angelina said in a statement: “We have seen first-hand the remarkable job SOS does to raise orphaned and abandoned children and keep families together.”
Brad and Angelina adopted Maddox from Cambodia, Pax from Vietnam and Zahara from Ethiopia.
They have three biological children, Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox.
On Sunday, Pink performed her final show of her Funhouse world tour in Germany. To celebrate the milestone, her hubby Carey Hart decided to surprise the singer on stage. While in the middle of performing the song ‘So What’, Carey came rushing out and gave Pink a big kiss, only to have her dancers strip him down to his underwear. And never to be one to not join in on the fun, Pink straddled her hubby on the bed prop for all of Germany to see. That’s love right there! I think that it was Carey that got the bigger surprise there.

The clothes-minded critiques begin with Fashion Police: The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 18.
Joining Rivers on the red carpet beat will be E! personalities Khloé Kardashian Odom, Giuliana Rancic and Jay Manuel.

Love-split actress Susan Sarandon is being linked in reports to a man less than half her age who she met at a ‘naked’ ping-pong party.
Sarandon stunned Hollywood when she announced her split from actor Tim Robbins after 23 years together, saying the couple actually split in the summer.
Now reports have linked the 63-year-old actress to Jonathan Brinklin, 31, her partner in a swanky New York table tennis club called Spin.
Page Six insisted Sarandon was “recently rumored to be involved with” Brinklin – while website Gawker went further by saying they are “now in a relationship”.
Sarandon met Brinklin when she went to one of his Naked Ping Pong parties, thrown in a loft he shared with three friends where everyone plays table tennis, fully clothed despite the title.
She then ironically ended up hiring him to make a tribute video for Tim Robbins’ 50th birthday, as well as investing in his private club Spin.
Sarandon, promoting her new movie The Lovely Bones, had stayed away from questions about her private life during a round of TV interviews.
But a statement released by Sarandon’s spokesperson, Teal Cannaday, confirmed: “Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins, have announced that they separated over the summer. No further comments will be made.”
Maura Tierney, 44, is making a good recovery from treatment for breast cancer.
The ER actress was forced to resign from her stint on NBC’s Parenthood to undergo treatment and will return to her role in Rescue Me, said producer Peter Tolan.
Tierney was replaced on Parenthood by Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls fame.
Tolan said: “We are just about finished writing the entire sixth season, which is about 10 episodes, and then there are nine more [for Season 7] so we know we’re going to bring back Maura Tierney, because we loved her and she loved us, which is even more fulfilling. She can take care of herself and come back.”
Tierney will begin shooting for her episodes in Spring 2010. She plays a rocker gal who works her way up to find romance with Tommy, who is played by Denis Leary.
Cate Blanchett recalled a “gothic phase” she went through as a teenager.
The actress, who is currently in New York performing in A Streetcar Named Desire, said:”Back then, I’d go to bed with my make-up on if I’d been out. And I went through a big gothic phase, so my pillow was always covered in black mascara and white pancake make-up.”
Rather than talking of a goth phase, Blanchett was apparently talking of a ghostly phase or the haunting look of a Victorian painting.
Blanchett went on to endorse a range of skincare products: “A friend recommended the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence … [I'd] drink it if I could.”
