The Real Housewives of OC has worked the recession into the show, featuring the downsizing of gifts, retail hangouts and home help.
“All of them have been very much affected by the economic situation,” said the show’s executive producer, Douglas Ross, of the housewives.
Now quite a few of the reality cast will allow their financial challenges to be exposed. Lynne Curtin’s family, for one, will be evicted from their Laguna Beach home.
Ross said: “We try to treat it as gently but as honestly as we can. We happened to have been there with our cameras – as part of our normal schedule when they were served the eviction notice. It’s one of those great reality TV moments that happened to be caught because we were in the right place at the right time.”
The housewives don’t seem to mind having their financial issues aired, seeing it as a way to comfort others.
Housewife Jenna Keough said: “It helps people across the nation because they realise it’s not just them.”
Just how a real housewife can continue on the show without a house remains to be seen.
Fans of Catherine Zeta-Jones who thought they were getting inadvertently flashed by the star were getting excited a little bit too soon, it turns out.
The Welsh beauty stars onstage with Angela Lansbury in A Little Night Music and some theatre-goers have been left thinking they were catching thrilling flashes of her flesh after seeing her perform in the Broadway play.
But in fact the star is never actually naked – and the audience never sees anything raunchier than a body stocking.
Fans were so convinced they had seen the star naked, they told the New York Post that Zeta-Jones was flashing her boobs to audience members at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York.
But a spokesman for the play insisted: “Catherine Zeta-Jones is never ‘naked’ in any part of A Little Night Music.
“For the scene referenced [to]… she is, and always has been, completely covered in flesh-coloured undergarments.”
Project Runway will hit the airwaves for a seventh season on the Lifetime television network next month, the network has announced.
The host will be the wildly popular supermodel Heidi Klum, the mentor Tim Gunn and the judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. Sixteen competitors will face off in the hope of winning a coveted opportunity to show a collection at the New York Fashion Week, Lifetime announced. The first show will go to air on January 14.
Klum, meanwhile, wowed the audience when she stepped back onto the catwalk at the recent Victoria’s Secret show in New York. But Klum, who gave birth to her fourth child, a daughter, only five weeks ago, looked in great shape in her purple corset covered with a half gown with tulle poufs.
The winner of the seventh season of Project Runway – which has spun off around the world – will receive an editorial feature in Marie Claire, the chance to sell their line on Bluefly.com, a $50,000 technology suite by HP and Intel and $100,000 in cash from L’Oréal Paris.
Veteran actress Jane Fonda has called Cate Blanchett’s performance in Streetcar Named Desire the ‘greatest stage performance’ she’s ever seen.
The 71-year-old star recently caught a performance of Cate, 40, playing Blanche in the play. It is currently playing at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York.
She said on her blog: “I saw Cate in Streetcar Named Desire on Wednesday night. Liv Ullman directed it. I will say right here that it was perhaps the greatest stage performance I have ever seen.
“It is a limited run and all sold out but rumors are that it may come to Broadway and, if so, don’t miss it.
“Liv’s direction is perfect as is everything about this production which originated in Sydney Australia where Cate and her husband Andrew have the Sydney Theatre Company.
“She showed us the unraveling of a fragile woman right before our eyes and did it with not a false moment. I’ve known this was coming cause Liv Ullman told me about it when she came backstage after my 33 Variations.
“So I have had my ear to the ground. I intended to go back stage and hug Cate.”
Director Sofia Coppola and partner Thomas Mars are expecting their second child.
Coppola, 38, and partner Mars have been together for four years and have a three-year-old daughter Romy.
During a backstage interview, Mars nodded when asked if Coppola was pregnant.
Mars said: “I heard the story that if you play Bach, [babies in the womb] get smarter.”
He was then asked if he will be playing music from his band Phoenix’s new album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix and said: “We have to study it. Not sure it’s a good idea.”

Model Kate Moss is reportedly packing her bags and leaving the UK to live in France.
The 35-year-old is said to have put down a deposit on a £20million apartment in Paris and is buying the new pad for her seven-year-old daughter Lila and boyfriend Jamie Hince.
The apartment is in an area called the Golden Triangle and is near to Chanel’s flagship store and features six bedrooms and views of the Eiffel Tower.
A source said: “Kate has told model agency bosses she wants to be at the heart of the fashion world. She loves Paris and always stays at the Ritz whenever she’s in town.
“After 34 years in London, Kate feels it’s time for a break – and cannot wait to immerse herself in the Parisian way of life. She found a gorgeous penthouse apartment in the most fashionable part of town – and immediately put an offer in, and paid the requisite deposit to hold it.
“The plan is for her and Lila to move in the spring. Initially, it will be used as a weekend getaway but she then has the option to move there full-time. Jamie has also been invited but will keep his place in the UK.
“Similarly, Kate will of course keep a base in London, in addition to her Cotswolds home – she doesn’t want to lose touch with her roots, or her mates from home.

Elton John’s partner David Furnish has revealed he felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman during their first date.
The 47-year-old said that during his first weekend with the 62-year-old music legend, he felt ‘overwhelmed’.
Furnish said: “The first weekend together, we went to Paris and I was totally overwhelmed. He took me to the Versace boutique. I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.
“I remember standing in the changing room and there were assistants running around me with shirts, jackets, coats and blazers.
“I always collected fashion within my own means, but there is the Elton level, which is totally different!”
She seems very confident that he shall live up to them, though. Mariah Carey has recently declared that she believes her husband Nick Cannon will make an excellent father. This is what the singer said on the matter: “He’d be the best dad in the whole world!” This really doesn’t work like everything else might have so far for Mariah Carey. She just can’t say that Nick Cannon is going to be a great dad and spoof he turns into one. There might be a tad of a disappointment on the horizon for Mariah Carey if she really has these expectations.
The singer recently admitted that she doesn’t really mind that her lyrics don’t make sense… sometimes. This is what Shakira shared with everyone on the matter: “It’s hard to explain my lyrics because sometimes I just write things because they rhyme. I found this metaphor, and I thought it made a lot of sense. A coffee machine in an office has everybody’s fingerprints on it. Sometimes I feel like that.” Well, Shakira should know that 7 year-olds sometimes write things just because they rhyme, that doesn’t really score her any points. And what is this deal with the coffee machine and the fingerprints… in relation to Shakira, especially her new video, that probably transmits and entirely different image than what she intends. But hey… it doesn’t really matter, does it? As long as the music sells…
