Madonna’s subjects prove dutiful after all
After openly protesting against the arrest of a gay couple in her blessed state of Malawi and then getting actively involved in the whole thing, it seems Madonna has actually managed to turn things around and get the two released. After the joyous event, this is what Madonna posted on her blog: “I have always believed love conquers all—yesterday I got to see it in action. In the last week over 30,000 of you added your name to mine calling for the release of Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalangal—the Malawi couple sentenced to 14 years hard labor for the “crime” of homosexuality. With incredible joy, I am writing to share with you that Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharika has ordered their release.” Of course he did… after all, anything for the grand goddess. But it’s good that the people of Malawi have such a kind and considering deity.
Dennis Hopper’s estranged wife to fight for share of his estate
Hollywood legend Dennis Hopper’s estranged wife is reportedly launching a legal battle to claim a massive chunk of his estate.
The Easy Rider screen icon was still married to Victoria Duffy when he died on Saturday morning after losing his long battle with prostate cancer.
According to TMZ.com, Hopper, 74, had been desperate to divorce her in the months before he passed away.
But the official split was not final when he died at his home in Venice, California, surrounded by relatives.
Now it has emerged that the pair had signed a pre-nup ahead of their 1996 wedding, which entitled Duffy to 25 per cent of Hopper’s hefty fortune as well as a $250,000 insurance payout.
Duffy was only allowed to receive the settlement if she and Hopper were still married and living together at the time of his passing.
Although the pair were separated, they were still married when he died and lived in separate houses on the same sprawling property.
Sources told the website that Duffy is planning to argue that since she was still on the property, she was living with Hopper – and is therefore entitled to the hefty sum.

Mariah Carey drops out of movie
Is acting life too much for her? Can’t Mariah Carey carry on with her diva lifestyle while acting? Otherwise what would be the reason for the singer dropping out of her latest cinema role… especially since she’s so good at it? It looks like Mariah Carey has decided that she won’t be starring in Tyler Perry’s new film and her representative had only this to say about the sudden change of plans: “I’m not at liberty to discuss her personal life at this time.” This kind of concerns her professional life though. Still, it was really classy of Mariah Carey to give up just a month before the scheduled start to the filming… that way, the producers have ample time to find a replacement.
Sandra Bullock to receive MTV Generation Award
The Blind Side star Sandra Bullock is set to pick up the MTV Generation Award at the upcoming MTV Movie Awards, according to reports.
The 45-year-old actress will be the first woman to receive the equivalent of a lifetime achievement award at the bash on 6 June.
It is thought that Bullock will be attending the ceremony in California – her first red carpet appearance since splitting from her husband Jesse James after it was reported that he had cheated on her.
She last attended a public event at the Oscars in February, shortly before the scandal of James’s multiple extra-marital affairs hit the headlines.
Bullock has since revealed that she has adopted a baby boy, Louis, in an interview with People magazine.

Bachelorette contestant showed prowess – and confidence – on the baseball field
He has declared to Ali he will be the “last man standing”. And it seems Bachelorette contestant Kasey Kahl has never been lacking in the confidence department.
The advertising account executive was equally as fearless when he was just a fresh-faced teenager growing up in Clovis, California.
“All we have to do is show up and all ready the other team is scared they are going to lose,” he wrote in one of his high school yearbooks.
But back then the sentiment was describing his prowess on the baseball field rather than his ability to charm members of the opposite sex.
Kasey, now 27, attended Clovis High School between 1997 and 2001 – when he graduated at 18-years-old.
With an almost identical cropped blonde hairstyle and cheeky grin, the baby-faced Bachelorette contestant is easily recognizable in his yearbook snaps.
While the 1998 book shows him as a football-playing Freshman – number 18 in the squad – Kasey appears to have dedicated the rest of his school days to baseball instead.
And if his confidence levels on The Bachelorette match his bravado on the Junior Varsity baseball team, Kasey’s fellow contestants had better look out.
Kasey, one of the remaining 17 suitors trying to win the heart of Ali Fedotowsky on The Bachelorette, came across as sweet and sensitive as he made his debut on the ABC reality show.
“I will always be there to protect and guard your heart. All I ask is just give me a chance to show you mine,” he told Ali as he met her for the first time.
But as the cameras continued rolling, the 6’4” blonde grew in confidence – and took the bold step of declaring himself the eventual winner.
“I know that in the end I’ll be there. I’ll be the last man standing. I’ll be Ali’s future husband,” he said.
Ali, 25, kept Kasey waiting until the very last minute, and handed him her final rose on Monday night’s season premiere.
The advertising account executive breathed a sigh of relief as he was sent through to the next round of the competition.

Kendra Wilkinson not involved in sex-tape release
Kendra Wilkinson has reportedly not spoken with bosses at Vivid Entertainment over the release of her sex tape.
The 24-year-old was alleged to be making over $500,000 from the release of her sex tape after making a deal with porn company Vivid Entertainment.
However, Steve Hirsch from Vivid claims he has not spoken with the star, who has said she is devastated that the tape of her having sex with an ex-boyfriend has come to light.
Hirsch said to Life & Style: “I’ve never spoken to Kendra, never met Kendra and didn’t do any deal with Kendra, so it’s absolutely not true.”
The video, called Kendra Exposed, was recently released online and also on DVD.

Courtney Love gets dumped
Such a sad, sad time has just fallen upon Courtney Love. It seems that her boyfriend, Andre Balazs, decided that it would be best for him and the singer to part ways since he no longer has the patience required for Courtney Love’s… special behavior. Apparently he left her with words of fondness and other courtesies, although that didn’t help her much since friends are saying that she is now feeling very depressed. Oh well, maybe Courtney Love can rekindle things with one of her old flings… at least until all of this passes on. Maybe Billy Corgan is available to fill the void for a bit.
Dannii Minogue will be returning to The X Factor
Only for a short while, true, but still it’s better than nothing, especially since they probably managed to convince Cheryl Cole to get back as well. Dannii Minogue will be appearing in September, two months after she will have given birth and Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh will be there too. But after that it’s bye-bye work, as Dannii Minogue says: “After baby’s born, I’ll absolutely switch off. You have to. I just want to have the baby, shut the door, and take some time off work. That’s it.” Apparently she will be replaced by Melanie B and two other celebrities. Well, it sure seems like she’s a hard piece to find if they have to get three others to take her place.
Sarah Jessica Parker is a poor girl made good
The stylist behind Sex and the City’s iconic style, Patricia Field, says that Sarah Jessica Parker “is a poor girl made good”.
Field was addressing reports that had allegedly labelled Parker the “greediest woman” in Hollywood when it came to such things as costumes.
“She’s lovely, she’s intelligent, she’s articulate,” Field said of the actress.
“She’s in a position where she’s offered many things. I am, as well.
“My take on it is her thing is that she comes from a family that was not wealthy at all… She remembers her childhood as being poor,” the stylist said to OK! magazine.
Field explained: “If there’s anything that makes her like that, it’s that she grew up poor, and she delights in all the things she can have and has.”

Teri Hatcher jokes about affair with ‘Larry King’
Teri Hatcher has joked that she’d been caught in bed with veteran TV host Larry King.
The Desperate Housewives star confessed to an “affair” with the newsman.
She told a US talk show there was photographic evidence of them in a compromising situation.
Hatcher, 45, told Jimmy Kimmel Live: “I got myself in this situation where there are some photos of me floating around out there.”
Kimmel joked: “Oh, good!”
She continued: “It’s not really good. I just want to get it out there and not have the tabloids run away with it. The truth is, I slept with Larry King – in the three days he was getting a divorce.”
Kimmel said: “This is unbelievable. This is a bombshell. Does Larry know about this?”
She then showed off what she said were photos of them together – which in reality showed her romping in purple lingerie with a wrinkly old TURTLE.
Kimmel said: “Actually, this looks more like a box turtle to me than Larry King. That’s Larry King? Because Larry King parts his hair to the right.”
She insisted: “Jimmy, that is Larry King. He told me [it was]. I mean, look, he’s wearing suspenders. If that’s not Larry King, then I’m an a*shole.”
