Actress Portia de Rossi opened up about her battle with an eating disorder and admitted she once ate just 300 calories in a day. In an upcoming episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show, which is due to air in the US on Monday, the wife of talk show host Ellen DeGeneres admits at the height of her struggle she dropped to 82 pounds. The 37-year-old said: “It wasn’t that I was proud of it, but it was certainly a recognition for my self-control. “I definitely had some pretty amazing willpower to get down to 82 pounds and that’s what I was holding on to, I didn’t think about anything else.” These days Portia is much happier, having recently taken DeGeneres’ last name legally. She added: “I love her and I am very proud to be her wife. “I made up my name because I thought it was important to be independent of my family and be an individual… and I really wanted to be a part of Ellen’s family. By taking her name, it makes me feel like I have a family.”
Rihanna recently opened up to Marie Claire magazine about a lot of topics in their upcoming issue but one thing I didn’t expect to hear about was Chris Brown. The wounds may have healed physically but mentally, the Barbadian R&B singer is still somewhat dealing. When asked about that fateful assault, Rihanna admits that it’s still a painful memory but one that might have been needed in her life. She explains “God has a crazy way of working, and sometimes when stuff happens you feel like, ‘What did I do to deserve this?’ Why was it backfiring on me?’ But I needed that wake-up call in my life. I needed a turning point, and that’s what God was giving to me.” I’m proud of her for seeing the good in something so ugly.
Not even a week has gone by since Celine Dion gave birth to her twin sons and she and her husband, Rene Angelil, have decided upon names for the two boys: Nelson and Eddy. One will be named after Nelson Mandela and the other after Eddy Marnay. A representative of Celine Dion’s said the following about the couple’s name choices: “Eddy is a major influence in both Celine and Rene’s lives. Rene said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with Nelson Mandela they were impressed by the human being he is. Celine and Rene want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men.” Well they will certainly have a lot to boast with. It seems that Celine Dion is starting her two sons off on the right foot.
Kat Von D has dismissed reports that she has split up with Jesse James. The LA Ink star got together with Sandra Bullock’s former husband earlier this year. But speculation was sparked that she had reunited with ex-boyfriend Nikki Six after being spotted out with him. However, the 28-year-old said that far from getting back with the musician, she is still very much an item with James. She told USA Today, “I’m not dating Nikki. We didn’t get back together. Jesse and I didn’t break up. “I’ve known Jesse for a long time, since I was 22-years-old. I think he’s probably one of the most kind-hearted, intelligent human beings.”
Rene Angelil is speaking out about the recent birth of his twin boys with wife, pop singer Celine Dion. When asked about their reaction to the births, Rene said “When Saturday at 11:11 came, and they showed us the first baby that was crying, we were crying. It was a very emotional moment, and even though we didn’t speak to each other, we were both thinking about the time it took. We are very lucky, very privileged and very fortunate to have these boys.” Rene also shared what their 9-year old son Rene-Charles thinks of his brothers, saying “He was very, very happy that it was boys. I remember a few months ago when his mom told him the day we would find out the sex of the baby, his reaction pointing to his mom’s belly was ‘I hope there’s not too many girls in there.’”
The singer and talent show judge recently told the highly interesting story of how her marriage with actor Julian McMahon left her in a lot of debt. This is what Dannii Minogue related on the matter: “My fiance and then husband was living and working in America, but he had only just started working there and I was financing both of our living costs in both countries at 22. London and New York are expensive cities, we had nice things. And then every two weeks I flew back and forth, so that I could see him, get back to work, earn some more money, get back there again.” It looks like Dannii Minogue was pretty much chasing her own tail half of the time. It’s a good thing that Kris Smith provides a much more stable financial situation right now… or is that Simon Cowell?
Sharon Osbourne has admitted she used to be a school bully. The former X-Factor host confessed she would pick on other pupils because she felt insecure. “I was a bullier because I was so big,” she said during her US TV show The Talk. “I felt insecure to all the other perfect girls, so I was at them before they started at me, as a defence.” Sharon’s confession comes just weeks after Dannii Minogue released her autobiography and accused the outspoken redhead of verbally ‘attacking’ her. The Australian TV star said Osbourne reduced her to tears backstage at the X-Factor and regularly insulted her appearance.
Monica Bellucci has graced the cover of a men’s magazine only months after giving birth. The Italian actress shows off her curves in a halter-neck red swimsuit on the front of Australian title Men’s Style, five months after the arrival of her second child Leonie. Bellucci has previously revealed her passion for her native cuisine, declaring, “I am certainly Italian in my love of food. I eat everything, but I love Italian food most of all.” Finding time for a work out is impossible, according to Bellucci. “So instead of going to the gym I dress in black. A lot more practical, and much more fun,” she said at the time. The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee star is married to French heart throb Vincent Cassell, and they are also parents to six-year-old daughter, Deva.
Lisa Marie Presley recently opened up to Oprah about her relationship with the late King of Pop Michael Jackson. According to Lisa, that was the last time she was going to talk about her ex-husband. She opened up about her last conversation with the singer saying “I was so removed from him and he could feel it and hear it. I was very distant … He was asking me, he wanted to tell me that I was right about a lot of people around him. And he asked if I still loved him. … I told him I was indifferent and he didn’t like that word. And the final part of the conversation was him telling me that someone was going to try and kill him to get a hold of his catalog and estate. And I really didn’t know what to do with that.” When asked if she thought she could have saved him, Lisa Marie said “Naively, I want to say: I wanted to. Could I have? Had I made a call? Had I stopped being so shut off from him? Had I just said, ‘How are you?’ I really did regret that I didn’t.”
Sex and the City creator Michael Patrick King is working on an untitled comedy in which Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep and Oprah Winfrey share the big screen, say reports. The trio will reportedly take the leads in an ensemble film set in the world of a Home Shopping-style network. “I came up with the idea of writing for Meryl, Sandy and Oprah, and it became so specific to them that I wanted to be sure I had interest from these ladies,” King told Deadline. “I put it in front of each of them and they all said yes. To have access to these women, tell them this story and hear yes was almost like a Greek mythological journey, with me going from one goddess to the next. It was humbling. They’re all unique, and the idea of writing parts that three strong women will play is such a challenge. Their body of work is beyond reproach.” The writer and producer is especially eager to create a role for the talk show host, saying: “It’s also appealing to craft a character for Oprah to come back and play that’s not Oprah.”
