Elizabeth Banks signs on for Hunger Games
Actress Elizabeth Banks is the latest star to join the cast of the eagerly anticipated movie Hunger Games. Banks will take on the role of Effie Trinket in the big screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins hugely popular sci-fi book. The 40-Year-Old Virgin actress, 37, broke the news on Twitter. “I can now confirm I’m EFFIE TRINKET in The Hunger Games,” Banks Tweeted adding, “So excited!” Always on time, Effie is very strict about manners, but despite her seemingly serious demeanor she has bright pink hair. Banks is joining the likes of Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and Oscar nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence in the movie. Lionsgate plans to adapt the book series as a trilogy, which will include The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, based on the novels by Suzanne Collins. The film will hit cinemas in the US in March 2012.

Prince William and Kate Middleton married in front of two billion viewers around the world and the showbiz world was watching too. Celebs wrote messages to their Twitter fans discussing the royal event and giving their take on the ceremony, the dress and THAT kiss. Singer Justin Bieber wrote: “congrats to William and Kate and Kate’s sister.” Footballer Wayne Rooney’s wife Coleen added: “Congratulations Kate and William. May you have a very happy life together.” CNN host and TV presenter Piers Morgan gave his take on the wedding dress and other gowns. He said: “My Best Dress vote: 1) Kate 2) Victoria Beckham 3) Pippa.” Victoria Beckham’s former Spice Girls star pal Emma Bunton also congratulated the couple. She wrote: “Absolutely beautiful couple!!! They look exquisite!” Singer Estelle seemed impressed with the overall wardrobe choices and wrote: “Top hats and fascinators, This wedding was gorgeous. Just. Gorgeous. Ok I’m leaning off Twitter for a bit, Enjoy the glorious day.” TV presenter and Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden added: “Kate looked every inch a Princess! Eva Longoria to host baby shower for Victoria Beckham
Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria is reportedly throwing her pal Victoria Beckham a ‘princess-pink’ themed baby shower. Eva, 36, is so excited by the arrival of the 37-year-old’s first daughter that she and friend and celebrity hairdresser Ken Paves are going all out. They are hosting a special private party on May 6 at LA’s Beverly Wilshire hotel, with an impressive guestlist lined up – including model Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Heidi Klum, Katie Holmes, Rachel Zoe, January Jones and Kate Beckinsale. A source told British newspaper the Daily Mirror: “The baby shower was all Eva’s idea, she sort of rail-roaded Victoria into it. “Eva and Ken are going totally over the top and camping it up. “As well as having baby-pink cupcakes and marshmallow towers, pink bubbly will be stored in a huge, ice-filled pram. “The plan is for a mini-tea party during which everyone will hand over their gifts. You can expect a lot of Tiffany merchandise and designer babygros. “Afterwards, a few select friends will go to Eva’s Hollywood restaurant, Beso, for dinner -Victoria’s a bit gutted because she will not be able to drink.”

Workmen have started to create Kate Middleton’s indoor forest. As bride-to-be Kate left her family home yesterday, in what may be the last time she will visit her homestead before her big day, gardeners were spotted getting trees ready for Friday’s royal wedding. The 29-year-old ordered more than four tons of foliage, including eight 20ft-high trees, to recreate an English country garden feel inside Westminster Abbey. Under the guidance of her floral designer, Shane Connolly, half a dozen English Field Maples have been installed in the church to create a ‘Living Avenue’.

Khloe Kardashian has made a cameo appearance on TV crime show Law & Order. The 26-year-old reality TV star plays herself – albeit a Khloe Kardashian who is a successful actress – on Law & Order: Los Angeles after a publicist who is supposed to represent her is gunned down. Khloe is seen working out, hitting a heavy bag while wearing pink boxing gloves on a movie set, as detectives played by Alfred Molina and Corey Stoll arrive to quiz her in the NBC TV show. She admits having a feud with the publicist because she was made to wear a dress that “made my ass look like a pancake” for the Golden Globes.

Julia Roberts always happy with hubby
Julia Roberts has revealed she and husband Danny Moder only argue maybe once a year. The couple met on the set of The Mexican in 2000 and went on to have twins Hazel and Finn, six, and three-year-old Henry. And after more than a decade together, Roberts said they are closer than ever. “We are always happy. We maybe will have an argument once a year just to get it out of our system so we don’t make people sick,” she told People. “We’ve shared a room for 12 years and we lived in the same apartment building. We liked living together. So we know everything about each other. We’re very close.” Roberts recently teamed up with Moder for forthcoming movie Jesus Henry Christ, she as a producer, he as a cinematographer. She said it was nice to see how seriously he takes his work. “It was so great to be working on the same movie with him. He’s so good at what he does. He’s so clear and focused. It’s actually hard to get his attention on the set because he’s really like, ‘No, I’m working’. But at lunch I will be like, ‘Hi, remember me, your wife?’”

Helen Mirren won’t be watching royal wedding
Helen Mirren has insisted she will not be tuning in to the royal wedding on Friday. The British actress, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Elizabeth II in The Queen, said she didn’t receive an invitation from Prince William and Kate Middleton, and so will instead be jetting off to some secluded location away from all the wedding fever. Mirren told The Mail On Sunday: “I’ll probably be in a little Italian bar somewhere and the football will be on. I’ll ask, ‘Can you switch it over to the royal wedding?’ and they will say, ‘What wedding?’” The 65-year-old, who was invested as a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2003, added she hopes the happy couple find time to make the big day theirs. “I know this sounds ridiculous, but I think people getting married should be a private thing. I hope they will also do an absolutely private wedding just for them.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are reportedly on the look-out for a super nanny to help care for their brood of six. According to The Sun, the couple have high expectations and want applicants to have a degree in education or child development and to speak two languages, including the native tongue of the child they will care for. Kids Maddox, Pax, Zaharah, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne all have a carer each so it is not clear who the new nanny is for. A salary of up to $150,000 (£90,000) is available for the successful candidate, but they must be prepared to travel the globe with the family. A source told The Sun, “It’s a coveted position. Brad and Angelina’s requirements are justified – they only want the best for their kids. “The pay packet and lifestyle make it a pretty amazing deal. “Not only have Brad and Angelina got to be able to trust the nanny completely with the kids but the new carer must also respect the family’s privacy.”

Tina Fey: I tried to pump milk while watching Entourage
Comedienne Tina Fey has revealed that she pumped breast milk while watching TV show Entourage. The 30 Rock star told GQ magazine that following the birth of her daughter Alice in 2005, she was unable to produce enough milk naturally and had to resort to using a breast pump, which she found “upsetting”. Consequently, the 40-year-old star, who is currently pregnant with her second child, attempted to make using the pump more enjoyable. She said: “I would try to pump milk while watching Entourage on demand. And that was the worst possible way to do it. “Like, I had the pump on, and I’d hear Turtle on TV, ‘Yo, E, you ever f*** a girl when she has her period?’ I just sat there thinking, ‘Oooh, this is not how this is meant to be.’” But jokes aside, Fey says her hubby, Jeff Richmond, was “really good about helping out” — most of the time. She said: “The problem was [nappies]. He never got past the poop. He would do these [makes gagging noises], ‘Oh God, I’m gonna vomit’. Never got over it.”

‘I considered posing for Playboy,’ Cat Deeley reveals
Cat Deeley yesterday (Wednesday) revealed how she almost agreed to pose for Playboy magazine — because she thought she could ‘work’ a set of bunny ears. The British TV star toyed with the idea of gracing the cover of the adult mag after receiving an offer from publisher Hugh Hefner. But she eventually turned down the X-rated shoot, because she feared her father might not recover from the shock. “I did not say yes because my father is still alive and I would like him to remain that way for the foreseeable future. My dad couldn’t handle it,” she said. Deeley, 37, spoke candidly about her potential Playboy career during an appearance on George Lopez’s US chat show. The Birmingham-born presenter, who hosts American TV show So You Think You Can Dance, revealed how she received the offer after attending a party at the world famous Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. “We went and he [Hugh Hefner] was just as you’d expect him to be,” she said. “He had his white satin pyjamas on and couldn’t understand a word I was saying. “It started at 5.30pm. It was like an early movie night. Everybody was tucked up with their little blankets. “But there is life in the old dog yet. After I’d been there, a week later my manager got a phone call saying would I be interested in doing the cover and an inside story.” She added: “There was part of me that was kind of like ‘Ooh I could work a set of ears. I could make that happen for me.’ But everybody sensible in my life said absolutely not.”
