Quite sooner than might have been expected… it looks like the singer’s brand new album, “Hold it Against Me”, has a release date and it is the 15th of March. Britney Spears’ manager, Adam Leber, seems to be fairly excited about the new release since he tweeted the following: “Britney Spears did a photoshoot for her album package yesterday. Photos are nothing less than spectacular. We’ll share some soon. So many good things coming down the pipeline. Britney fans should be excited. Album is incredible, video is fire, photoshoot is pure glam. Patience isn’t just a great song by Guns N’ Roses. All good things to those who wait.” Well, one wouldn’t expect him to not be optimistic about it. And after all, the more hype they manage to build before the release, the better Britney Spears’ number will get.
Just one more big bash before hitting the coal mines again, eh? It seems that Susan Boyle will be having a little get-together of friends, family and Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan at her home in Scotland. This is what a source had to say of Susan Boyle’s plans: “We’ve heard Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan have been invited, and Susan’s very keen to see Piers again.” But she’s not so keen on seeing Simon Cowell again? Well, who would be… after all, Susan Boyle is probably going to be seeing a lot of the Earl of Exigency what with a new album coming out and whatnot.
How else could you explain the fact that the singer has released three albums this year and she recently announced that she will be starting work on the next one in January? This is what Robyn had to say about going to work on yet another new album: “I’m back writing in the studio in January, then touring the US, UK and Europe from February. It’s the end of the “Body Talk” album, but it’s nice to start working on something new. This is the idea I want to keep developing. Releasing albums in this way allows me to go back into the studio more often, and keep writing between records, which I haven’t been able to do before. And, hopefully, that way I can keep releasing shorter albums, but more regularly.” Well, this is one way about going to get bigger record sales. The more albums, the more records Robyn sells… not a bad arrangement.
It seems that Take That’s reunion has done a lot of good for all of them and especially for their sales record. Their new album has apparently seen the best-sales number of a first week than any other album in the last thirteen years. This is what the president of Official Charts Company, the magicians that bring us this interesting info, said about Take That’s reunion and its impact on sales: “Since their reunion as a four-piece four years ago, Take That have firmly established themselves as the UK’s favourite band. Following the return of Robbie Williams to their ranks, that record has been further cemented – and they are now well on course to rule Christmas 2010, just as they dominated Christmas 2006 and 2008.” Considering that Christmas is indeed coming along, they couldn’t have picked a better time to release new material.
Susan Boyle’s much-anticipated second album ‘The Gift’ is slated to hit stores on November 9th. The track list includes a mix of holiday songs as well as pop covers, including the now notorious Lou Reed track ‘Perfect Day’. The singer said “When making this album, I really wanted the songs to touch hearts. Music has always been a companion to me, particularly on special occasions. I wanted there to be a mix of songs that would flow with all our moods this holiday season. As much as the season is a time for reflection, it is also a time for fun and enjoyment with those closest to us.”

Though Janet Jackson has two decent songs rotating on the radio right now, don’t expect that to mean that the pop singer will be putting out a full album any time soon. Janet says “There was a time where I was actually in the studio and I was recording, but I’m not working on an album. There have been a lot of record labels that have asked me to sit down and talk with them, but I don’t know if I want to do something completely independent, or go with a major.” The bigger question is what direction she will take her music to once she decides to work on it.
The singer is currently working on her upcoming LP but she seems to be worried that her fan base might not find it as pleasing as her previous material. This is what Adele was kind enough to admit about her insecurities: “I’m a bit scared. Obviously there are new avenues that I want to go down with the sound and I don’t want to leave behind the fans who might not like the new sound I am going for, so I’m a bit wary of that. I’m writing it slowly but surely. I have a producer but I don’t want anyone to know who it is until the record is done, in case it flops.” From this we must assume that this particular producer might not have such a good reputation since Adele is so reluctant to mention who it is. And whatever happened to the old concept of “you can’t please everybody”? It probably got lost under the tons of money the industry keeps pumping out of this “art”.
