Kelly Clarkson is on the cover of the April 2009 issue of Blender magazine. My question to the magazine is “why would a magazine ask such dumb questions?” I’ll have to check out the issue to make sure they talked about her album while they were discussing her urinary habits and nudity.

Interestingly enough, she didn’t seem to be offended at all by these questions. That is what makes her so …. oddly normal!

Here are some tidbits from the interview:

On peeing in the shower:

“Anybody who says they don’t is lying.”

On taking pleasure in walking around naked:

“I’m the kinda person who just doesn’t like clothes.”

On blowing her nose and then checking the tissue to see what color the snot is:

“I mean, if you have a cold, you have to check, to see how sick you are.”

On the essence of her appeal:

“The thing with me, and my audience in particular is, people look at me like a sister or a daughter. It’s not like people look at me as unattainable, some kind of star like that. People love the ‘real’ factor that’s involved, I think.”

On being an open book and willing to “talk about anything”:

“I do not lie. Ever. I will tell my girlfriend if she looks fat in her jeans… When you don’t make yourself clear or heard, that’s where trouble starts. And that’s something I learned as a child. No one is going to know what you feel unless you tell them.”

This does NOT surprise me.

Despite the stink of the scandal surrounding Chris Brown, his “career” does not seem to have been affected by his alleged beat down of Rihanna.

According to Soundscan, sales of Brown’s latest album, Exclusive, have remained steady in the weeks both before and after his assault on her.

The album has been selling approximately 3,000 copies a week in the U.S. since late January.

Disturbing isn’t it?

TMZ is reporting that Chris Brown may try to strike a plea, but only to a misdemeanor and with no jail time.

They are saying his attorneys have consulted law school professors who say Rihanna’s own aggressiveness removes it from the felony category.

“Sources say Rihanna was the first one to strike — slapping and striking Brown “numerous times” while he was driving, after seeing the text message from another woman. And Rihanna was fighting Brown as he punched and hurt her. We’re told much of this is reflected in the official police report based on what Rihanna told cops. As a result, they say, this is not a case that demands a felony plea.”

Sia reports in a new blog entry that her collaboration With Xtina turned out some great new material. She seems really pleased and grateful for the opportunity she was given to work with her. Apparently, it was Christina who contacted the Australian singer/songwriter for help with her upcoming album, which in itself is very flattering!

Sia writes:

she is my new best friend
02.03.09
i arrived on a sunday night and fell into bed.
monday morning i discovered it was colder than i had anticipated, and shorts and shirt dresses weren’t going to cut it.As the rain seeped into my converse chucks,i made a note to refer to them as ‘sandals’ in the future.
sam (dixon) and i spent the day discussing valentines, and trying not to buy anything at all, because ‘there is a recession, you know’.
we were officially on call.
to miss christina aguilera.
HOW FUN.
the week turned out 4 beautiful songs, four new mates, several new dog loves, fine dining, followed by super mario, apples to apples and a game of pool.
i lost unwaiveringly.
gratefully,i’m a demon at scrabble,and i’ve challenged her to a tournament.
i can never be a better singer than her,but i sure can hope to get the word ‘hexagons’ on a triple word score, you feel me?
i definitely pooped my pants when she first sang out loud in the room with us.
little prickles stood up all over me,and marched first up,then down, then up again.
when i heard ‘beautiful’ in david’s car for the first time,i remember thinking, this is the best song i can remember hearing maybe ever, who is it?
it didn’t surprise me at all when he said ‘christina aguilera’,but it does surprise me that just a few years later,i find myself collaborating with the voice that brought that song to life.
i love her.
she’s a nice person.

What a nice post! She obviously enjoyed working with her, and it will be interesting to hear what these two talented females created.

Bono has apologized for a dig he made about Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin on BBC Radio.

Bono was on BBC Radio 1 Friday morning promoting U2′s new album when he made the following statement:

“I think he’s that good a melodist, but he’s a wanker… He’s obviously a completely dysfunctional character and a cretin.”

Can you imagine? Oh my!

Bono then quickly backtracked by saying to the radio show host:

“I think they [Coldplay] are a great band and actually, it turns out he’s a great soul as well. Sorry about that. I was just joking entirely.”

I think he was just joking because the guys played together at the War Child Benefit Concert. Bono and The Killer’s Brandon Flowers joined Coldplay on stage to play The Killers’ All These Things That I’ve Done together. Here’s a twitpic from the grand finale:

The concert happened just after Wednesday night’s Brit Awards, Coldplay and The Killers performed a benefit concert for War Child at Shepherd’s Bush in London.

The NME reported:

Then, having only rehearsed minutes beforehand backstage, The Killers and Bono joined Coldplay onstage to perform ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ together.
Although the U2 man was a bit shaky on the lyrics to The Killers song, the three frontmen led the crowd through a rousing sing-a-long as they repeated the tracks “I’ve got soul/ but I’m not a soldier” refrain.
“This is going to be the best encore you’ll ever see!” declared Martin as the three acts wrapped up the night.

Although fans were supposed to wait another month before the official release for Kelly Clarkson’s new “All I Ever Wanted” album, the Norway division of iTunes mistakenly leaked it onto the Internet.

Supposedly users of the Norwegian iTunes were able to initially first stream 30-second-clips of the new album, but they then found out they could purchase the entire album! Then boom, the album hit P2P sites and message boards around the world.

Her album is a great comeback. Will Apple have to cough up and pay big bucks to Kelly and her record label for this major screw up?

Taylor Swift is on the cover of the March 2009 of Rolling Stone.

The article’s caption reads, “The world’s biggest new pop star is a little bit country, a little bit rock & roll, and all control freak.”

Nashville’s little princess took to her blog to talk about how honored she is to be on the famed magazine’s cover. She said:

“I’m so excited, I can’t even stand it. It’s on news stands now, and I haven’t seen it yet because I’m in London, but I just can’t believe I get to be on the cover of Rolling Stone. Wow. This is crazy.”

I’m not loving her hairstyle for the cover photo as it’s normally so sleek and shiny, but whatever, she’s a talented girl and it’s nice to see she’s thrilled and excited to be recognized.

Kanye recently did an interview with Details Magazine and shared his thoughts on a few topics. I don’t know that many of his hits off the top of my head, just one, Gold digger comes to mind, so I think his statement about his cultural impact might be over the top. He really needs to talk with the little people, the ones who are outside of his life bubble. If he did, he may be stunned when he realizes he isn’t that important to them!

I wonder… could it be possible he’s pulling a Joaquin Phoenix and switching gears in his career? Either that or he may be living on another planet from the rest of us who really don’t ‘get him’ and all his wonderousness.

Here are a few snippets from the interview, enjoy all you Kanye fans:

Kanye Wants To Focus On Fashion Since He’s Mastered Music:

“Put this in the magazine: There’s nothing more to be said about music. I’m the fucking end-all, be-all of music. I know what I’m doing. I did 808s in three weeks. I got it. It’s on cruise control. . . . Man, we talked about music for God knows how long! Now let’s talk about how my fucking sweater didn’t come back right from Korea. That’s what’s interesting me.”

Kanye On How He Has Contributed To Our Generation:

“If not me, then who? Someone could be a better rapper, dance better. But culturally impacting*? When you look back at these four and a half years, who’s the icon at the end of the day? Who broke down color barriers? What other black guy would a white person use as a fashion reference?”

Kanye’s Opinion on “that’s so gay” Is In His Opinion A Compliment:

“Titles are very important. I like to embody titles, y’know, or words that have negative connotations, and explain why that’s good. Take the word gay—like, in hip-hop, that’s a negative thing, right? But in the past two, three years, all the gay people I’ve encountered have been, like, really, really, extremely dope. Y’know, I haven’t, like, gone to a gay bar, nor do I ever plan to. But where I would talk to a gay person—the conversation would be mostly around, like, art or design—it’d be really dope. From a design standpoint, kids’ll say, ‘Dude, those pants are gay.’ But if it’s, like, good, good, good fashion-level, design-level stuff, where it’s on a higher level than the average commercial design stuff, it’s, like, gay people that do that. I think that should be said as a compliment. Like, ‘Dude, that’s so good it’s almost . . . gay.’”

Jessica Simpson, Kellie Pickler, LeAnn Rimes and Julianne Hough took turns reading the nominees for the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in the Ford Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tenn. today.

I wonder how Jessica felt when the announcement was made that her boyfriend’s ex got nominated while she didn’t?

Entertainer of the Year nods went to: Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood.

Lily Allen who had apparently stopped drinking last year after she embarrassed herself on stage with Sir Elton John at a British awards show, now admits she’s fallen off the wagon.

She’s out on tour promoting her new album, and, according to her says that if she doesn’t drink she can’t get up on stage. In a recent interview, Allen tells the UK’s Sun:

“Yep, I am drinking again. Last night I had my first drink. There’s no way I can get on stage without a drink. I think I’m funnier when I’ve had a few. I didn’t find it difficult to stop drinking, I didn’t even think about it. I haven’t really needed a drink but now I’m on tour, it’s fun drinking sometimes. But some things have changed. I’m not drinking any cheap stuff now – only expensive wine will do this time. I’ve gone upmarket.”
