Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron has revealed that she drew inspiration from Jack Nicholson’s crazed character in The Shining for her latest movie role. Theron plays the Evil Queen in her highly-anticipated movie Snow White And The Huntsman which also stars Twilight’s Kristen Stewart. The actress turns bad to play the malevolent monarch in the high-action take on the classic fairy tale opposite Stewart as the banished princess. Theron’s Evil Queen is obsessed with beauty, and sucks the life of her pretty rivals to stay young – and Theron reveals she looked back at Nicholson’s maniacal turn as writer/caretaker Jack Torrance, who descends into madness while looking after an isolated hotel, in a bid to get to grips with the part. She tells LA Confidential Magazine, “This film has been a great sandbox to play in – huge sets and great costumes, and yet very grounded material. “There was definitely something about the character that always reminded me of Jack Nicholson in The Shining. “I played with the idea of that cabin fever, being stuck in a castle, and slowly losing your mind, your obsessions eating you up, and becoming capable of doing something you didn’t necessarily think you would be capable of.”

Prince Charles is reportedly worried he is being overshadowed by the popularity of Prince William and Kate. The next-in-line to the throne apparently feels that his son’s recent tour of Canada with his new wife turned into one-long photo opportunity, unlike his earlier visit with wife Camilla, which attracted much smaller crowds. Royal author Phil Dampier told The Mirror: “Charles felt overshadowed by Diana and now it seems he feels overshadowed by their son. Some people may think he is jealous. I have always felt that as soon as William got married, Charles would feel sidelined. From that moment people would be less interested in what he has to say on issues such as the environment and architecture if, on the same day, Kate is wearing a new dress. When Charles and Camilla visited Canada two years ago they were greeted by relatively small crowds. They are in their 60s and are not what you would call glamorous. Charles is well respected in Canada but he does not have the X-factor. With the Queen’s headline-grabbing Irish tour too, Charles feels his work could get overlooked.” But Wills and Kate now plan to keep a low profile ahead of the Queen’s diamond jubilee next year.

Sarah Jessica Parker is expected to receive a $3m payout for her stake in a failing fashion label. The Sex And The City star is ditching her contract with design house Halston, which would have entitled her to nearly $10m over the next three-and-a-half years, according to the New York Post. Parker, who had been designing a lower-price line called Halston Heritage, has now reportedly agreed to accept $3m for her ownership stake in the failing firm, as well as an exit from the remainder of her contract. “She was tired of all the conflict,” a source told the New York Post. “Sarah felt that she has the opportunity to do a lot more with herself, and make a lot more money in the process, if she goes elsewhere.” The actress is not alone in jumping ship from Halston, according to the US newspaper. Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein is also reportedly selling his stake, which had approached 10 per cent, for between $1m and $1.5m. Fashion sources have claimed that Halston has been rocked this year by arguments between Weinstein and executives at Hilco, a Chicago-based liquidation firm that took control of Halston in 2007 in a $25m buyout. “There have been a lot of screaming matches,” a Halston insider told the New York Post. “They really couldn’t agree on too much — the management team, expenses, the company’s structure.” Chief financial officer Jeff Green declined to comment.

Playboy boss Hugh Hefner said he believes ex-fiance Crystal Harris had another boyfriend. The 85-year-old was recently left heartbroken when Harris, 25, called off their wedding just five days before. Speaking to CNN’s Piers Morgan in his first TV interview since the shock split, he said: “I really don’t know what happened. I think that in time the rest of the story will play out. “There’s more that we don’t know. I think there’s at least one other guy in the picture. I am prepared for that probability (of another man). I think that is part of it. “The explanation probably has more to do with the fact that it had run its course and she didn’t really love me.”

Sharon Osbourne has accused Piers Morgan of being a ‘homophobic’ man who ‘probably wears stockings under his suit’. Piers and Sharon clashed as judges on US show America’s Got Talent when Piers said male pole dancer Steven Retchless was ‘weird for guys to watch’. “I am not really into male pole dancers,” he said. “It is not my kind of act. Having said that, he is obviously very good at it. He is very talented. I would just personally rather watch a woman do that – which is probably quite sexist, but it is true.” Osbourne blasted Morgan’s comments as ‘homophobic’ and later added: “He is so bloody uptight! “Piers is the type that probably wears stockings under his suit. It wouldn’t surprise me if he had suspenders and fishnets on.”

Ari Gold says that he was told to move to the back of a Short Line bus in New York after the bus driver said he was uncomfortable at the sight of his and another man holding hands. The singer said “The driver told us if we wanted to continue sitting together, we had to sit in the back.” The driver even had the nerve to call a state trooper which prompted Ari to announce to other passengers what was going on. The state trooper, naturally, saw nothing wrong. Ari plans on filing charges and posted an update to his Facebook page, saying “Haven’t reached anyone from Shortline yet-I’ll call Lamda Legal to see if there’s any action to take or at least make sure Shortline gives better employee training. I stood up to the driver despite my racing heart, I can only imagine what that might have done to someone who couldn’t.” Bravo to Ari for standing up for himself!
