I Don’t Know How She Does It star Olivia Munn has revealed how she has managed to lose 16lb in two months. The 31-year-old actress shares her weight-loss secrets in the latest issue of Shape magazine. Munn tells the US fitness magazine how she first came up with her own unique diet plan a couple of years ago. “I made up a diet I called, ‘If I can’t see it, I don’t eat it’,” she says. “For example, if you buy a roast chicken at the store, it sounds healthy, right? But those brown juices in the pan are made of what? Sugar? Soy sauce? “If I don’t know for sure, it’s not going in my mouth.” And the Date Night star — who says that she loves fellow actress Halle Berry’s “strong, feminine” curves — has also invented her own exercise routine that she does with her female friends. “We make up funny dances about guys,” she says. “I came up with dance aerobic routines that we do a few times a week to a 45-minute play-list. They have funny names like, the One-Night-Stand and the Ex-Boyfriend. “We all have that ex with the stupid dance who we love to hate, right? Mine did the jumping-up-and-down-fist-pump-in-the-air-with-an-overexcited-smile-plastered-on-his-face dance.” She adds: “It’s so much more fun than the alternative workouts my friends plan. They always ask me if I want to go for a hike. And I’m like, ‘No, why would I do that when I’ve got TiVo [digital TV recorder]?’”
Heidi Klum has launched her own range of costume jewellery with QVC. Wildlife by Heidi Klum will debut on the shopping channel on September 8, and will be her second accessories collection for QVC following her ill-fated fine jewellery line that folded in 2009 when jeweller Van Cleef & Arpels sued for copyright infringement. She told WWD, “We fought with Van Cleef & Arpels for over a year and a half, but we were a small fry next to a company like that. But looking back, I’m quite happy to be doing something new.” The new products will come in 35 styles, ranging in price from $30 to $200, and will be made from materials like antique silverstone, brasstone, and simulated gemstones. “All of the pieces are statement pieces,” Klum said, adding that she takes inspiration from flea markets. “The only reason to wear costume jewellery is to wear something large – something you can’t do with real jewellery because it would be too expensive.”
Kim Cattrall has revealed that she turned to the blood-type diet to shed the pounds after filming Meet Monica Velour. The 54-year-old actress had to gain weight for her role as an ageing porn star, and admitted that losing the 20lbs was not an easy task. She told Access Hollywood, “I found it so easy to put it on and so terribly hard to take it off… Eat Right For Your Blood Type is a great diet and I’ve used that before. “I’m the kind of dieter, I can’t have a little tiny bit of it because I want it all, so it is all or nothing… So that diet was great. “It was painstaking – exercising a lot and being on the diet and not snacking. My appetite did shrink and I did lose the weight.”
There are better ways to cure bulimia and according to Mel C, her pregnancy helped her get over the eating disorder. The former Spice Girls singer said “Scarlet hasn’t just changed my life, she’s saved it. As my bump grew the more proud I became of my body and suddenly I felt more comfortable eating healthily. I put on almost 50lbs and I certainly wasn’t in any rush to shed my baby weight. There’s too much pressure on mums to ping back into shape.” That is fantastic news. I’m happy that she managed to get over the disorder and didn’t end up harming her beautiful baby.
Reality star Kendra Wilkinson said she recently lost 10 pounds in two weeks. The 25-year-old feels she finally has her body back and has lost all her baby weight after giving birth to son Hank IV 14 months ago. She has now revealed how she lost the final 10 pounds of weight. She told OK!: “I always thought I needed to be on some specific diet. But I’ve noticed that it’s all about where you are and what you’re doing in life. “If I want to eat junk food, I go to the gym. If I’m taking a break from working out so hard, I eat more salad.”
Actress Carrie Fisher has admitted she hates having to wear ‘fat’ clothes. As the newest spokesperson for Jenny Craig, the 54-year-old has opened up about her expanding waistline.  According to People, she said: “I’m fat. “All the clothes in my closet belong to another chick. They have to make a new alphabet for my bra size.” Fisher said her weight crept up over the years due to a bad diet and lack of exercise. The daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher added: “I would just graze, but I didn’t do it healthy it was like putting on the feed bag.” When her father died back in September, she said she turned to Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars. The Star Wars actress said: “That was bad, I was in denial. “I look on the Internet and they say, ‘Whatever happened to Carrie Fisher? She used to be so hot and now she looks like Elton John’ – I was really hurt.” But Fisher has since joined Jenny Craig and lost 12lbs.
Actress Hilary Swank says she struggled to put on weight for her role in new movie Conviction. The US star gained 15lbs for the film, which was based on a real-life story, and admitted she had to completely change her outlook on eating. Swank plays the role of single mother Betty Anne Waters, who put herself through law school while working as a waitress to try and prove her brother’s innocence on a murder charge. Speaking to the New York Post newspaper, she said: “I personally have difficulty keeping weight on, and for this role I had to add 15lbs. My character, a single mum, hadn’t any opportunity to stay fit. “For my own needs, I like working out. But to gain weight I stopped that. Besides, this was an independent film. Small budget. We filmed long hours, long days. No time to work out.” She added: “Normally I only eat until I’m full. On this shoot, I kept eating more. Even when I was full, I’d eat more. With nowhere to go, the weight stays on you.”
Muhammad Ali’s daughter Laila Ali said it’s ‘no fun’ weighing over 200lbs while pregnant. Ali, 32, is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Curtis Conway and said she isn’t enjoying the weight gain. She said to UsMagazine.com: “I’m pregnant for the second time! I’m just about four months pregnant – but in my opinion, I look like I’m six months along! “Giving birth to a child is a beautiful gift and a privilege – there is no denying that. But, what a woman has to go through to make it happen is something else.” She added: “I’m a big girl already. I’m not one of these skinny chicks. At my best, I weight about 174lbs, so adding another 35 puts me past 200lbs. That’s no fun for any woman.”
Actress Portia de Rossi opened up about her battle with an eating disorder and admitted she once ate just 300 calories in a day. In an upcoming episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show, which is due to air in the US on Monday, the wife of talk show host Ellen DeGeneres admits at the height of her struggle she dropped to 82 pounds. The 37-year-old said: “It wasn’t that I was proud of it, but it was certainly a recognition for my self-control. “I definitely had some pretty amazing willpower to get down to 82 pounds and that’s what I was holding on to, I didn’t think about anything else.” These days Portia is much happier, having recently taken DeGeneres’ last name legally. She added: “I love her and I am very proud to be her wife. “I made up my name because I thought it was important to be independent of my family and be an individual… and I really wanted to be a part of Ellen’s family. By taking her name, it makes me feel like I have a family.”
Burlesque star Kristen Bell has revealed that she loves to eat a whole cheesecake with her friends because it feels “incredible”.
But the 30-year-old actress said she works off the extra calories by playing Ultimate Frisbee in Los Angeles, rock climbing in Malibu and exploring underwater caves in Palos Verdes.
Bell, who has been a vegetarian for 19 years, told Shape magazine that she cannot resist “devouring” cheesecake, even though she regrets it afterwards.
She said: “I’ve learned I don’t really feel well after I eat it, but I also know that devouring a whole cheesecake with my girlfriends can feel incredible!”
She added: “I am always going to be the kind of person who treats myself.”
