Susan Boyle recently had an interview where the British singer talked about where she finds some peace. The YouTube sensation said “The studio is my sanctuary. To return to it, well it feels like home away from home. The studio is like being inside a bubble and a place I can step away from the worry of life. As soon as I put the cans (headphones) on I know that I am safe. It’s a bit breathtaking, you know. For me, it’s not about album sales or chart positions. It is that the people buying my music are enjoying it. They are the ones who will hopefully keep me in this business for years to come. I don’t want it to end and I want them to keep enjoying my music.”
How else could you explain the fact that the singer has released three albums this year and she recently announced that she will be starting work on the next one in January? This is what Robyn had to say about going to work on yet another new album: “I’m back writing in the studio in January, then touring the US, UK and Europe from February. It’s the end of the “Body Talk” album, but it’s nice to start working on something new. This is the idea I want to keep developing. Releasing albums in this way allows me to go back into the studio more often, and keep writing between records, which I haven’t been able to do before. And, hopefully, that way I can keep releasing shorter albums, but more regularly.” Well, this is one way about going to get bigger record sales. The more albums, the more records Robyn sells… not a bad arrangement.
And she’s not too bad at it… after a recent commercial appearance, Shakira was apparently able to raise 660, 000 dollars for building schools in Columbia and Haiti. This is what the singer said about her endeavor: “Education is a birthright and a quality education is the only tool that a child has to turn dreams into reality. Since I was a girl I have been aware of the tough reality faced by many children.” It’s such a great thing that Shakira hasn’t forgotten where she came from… even though she probably could do a lot more. And yet… how about and extra six thousand dollars for those schools? Just for kicks…
It seems that the former Spice Girl and her husband, Stephen Belafonte, see a marriage counselor. This has been going on for four years now and consider that the two have been married only since 2007. This is what Melanie B related on the matter: “Stephen and I have been seeing a family therapist – normally once a week. It’s nice to show your vulnerability sometimes. I work through my frustrations by talking. I talk a lot. I’ve always been very open – maybe that’s why I got the name Scary Spice.” That’s probably one way of going about it to make sure that you don’t screw it up. Melanie B and Stephen Belafonte seem to have done a pretty good job thus far, but who knows how much longer they’ll be able to keep it up.
The band Ace of Base recently released “All For You,” the first video in the new formula of the band, Jonas Berggren, Ulf Ekberg, Clara Hagman, and Julia Williamson. Jonas and Band Wolf brought in two female voices that fit the band’s style so that they can conquer the music charts once again. In December last year, Jenny Berggren decided to leave the band to concentrate on a solo career. Clara is one of the semifinalists of Swedish Pop Idol contest, contest where Ekberg attended as a member of the jury. “All For You” is the first single promoting the album “The Golden Ratio”, which will be released later this year.
